Yes. You can always set to just print with black toner. Do this as default and just choose color when you want it and you will save money. Brother uses deceptive toner empty messages that you cannot turn off. The Brother MFC9340CDW BROTHER Wireless work around is cumbersome and tedious once you find out how to do it. Change the toner when the messages tell you to and you throw away large amounts of toner just because you get a deceptive message every time you print. I like the prints but think it is second rate device.
Compared to the old Brother HL-4150, I found this brother MFC9340CDW BROTHER Wireless printer have far inferior print quality. You get far more banding from the print rollers on this one. It’s very obvious on any large graphics. The colors are more accurate though.

That’s fine unless printing documentation for a home business. Faded would be the best description. I seem to have touched something that leaves an odd mark down the left-hand side of each page. That said, I would have paid $168 per color for the branded ink. I would buy it again.
